dry shampoo do's & dont's

Dry-shampoo has been my number one product this month. I feel like I haven't washed my hair as often as I should. Being a mom and getting into a new workout routine has trumped washing my hair and getting 100% ready. I have struggled with figuring out the best way to use dry-shampoo, what type, how many times I should use it etc. I have generated a list of things I find helpful.

  1. Colour matching: I feel like this is a common mistake that most people make. Manly people with darker hair because most of the product out there is a lighter shade so when applied to darker hair it comes off making your roots look grey. Be sure when buying your product you are looking for the right colour for you. This rule also applies to lighter haired ladies as well.
  2. Amount: BEWATE, dry-shampoo doesn't only remove the greasiness in your hair, it also may give you lots of volume. This can be a good thing for those who have naturally flat hair. If you accidentally apply more then needed you can always use your hair dryer on a low setting to help set in the product and blow out the dusty parts.
  3. Distance: You want to make sure you are using dry shampoo on the right spot. The right spot would be the greasy parts of your hair. There is no reason to use it all over your hair like a hair spray because it will just make your hair have a tired blah look. You also want to be careful with how far away you are holding it when applying the product. You want to make sure you aren't holding it to close or to far away. On the bottle of the product it should tell you the best distance to hold while applying.
  4. Wait time: You want to be patient while using dry shampoo as it takes time to for the magic to fully work before you can start styling your hair. One thing to remember after letting it set into your roots is to brush though it to make sure it gets distributed out to all the areas in need.
  5. Use sparingly: This is not an everyday product. Using to much of this product will damage your hair by potentially clogging the hair follicle in the long run, I would say that goes for most hair products. Don't get to addicted! I would say to only use this product once or twice maybe a week.
I hope this is helpful to my dry shampoo users! If you have any other questions about this product or others I would love to hear them.

Besos,

JM
