dry shampoo do's & dont's

Dry-shampoo has been my number one product this month. I feel like I haven't washed my hair as often as I should. Being a mom and getting into a new workout routine has trumped washing my hair and getting 100% ready. I have struggled with figuring out the best way to use dry-shampoo, what type, how many times I should use it etc. I have generated a list of things I find helpful.

  1. Colour matching: I feel like this is a common mistake that most people make. Manly people with darker hair because most of the product out there is a lighter shade so when applied to darker hair it comes off making your roots look grey. Be sure when buying your product you are looking for the right colour for you. This rule also applies to lighter haired ladies as well.
  2. Amount: BEWATE, dry-shampoo doesn't only remove the greasiness in your hair, it also may give you lots of volume. This can be a good thing for those who have naturally flat hair. If you accidentally apply more then needed you can always use your hair dryer on a low setting to help set in the product and blow out the dusty parts.
  3. Distance: You want to make sure you are using dry shampoo on the right spot. The right spot would be the greasy parts of your hair. There is no reason to use it all over your hair like a hair spray because it will just make your hair have a tired blah look. You also want to be careful with how far away you are holding it when applying the product. You want to make sure you aren't holding it to close or to far away. On the bottle of the product it should tell you the best distance to hold while applying.
  4. Wait time: You want to be patient while using dry shampoo as it takes time to for the magic to fully work before you can start styling your hair. One thing to remember after letting it set into your roots is to brush though it to make sure it gets distributed out to all the areas in need.
  5. Use sparingly: This is not an everyday product. Using to much of this product will damage your hair by potentially clogging the hair follicle in the long run, I would say that goes for most hair products. Don't get to addicted! I would say to only use this product once or twice maybe a week.
I hope this is helpful to my dry shampoo users! If you have any other questions about this product or others I would love to hear them.

Talk products to me

I've had some requests to talk about the hair products that I use. I feel like the products you use in your hair are worth spending extra money on. The things you find at the grocery store or convenient store are usually not the best for your hair. That is my personal and professional opinion.

Shampoo & Conditioners:

I've used so many different shampoos and conditioners and I feel like if you use the same one for a long time it begins to lose it's effectiveness. It's as if your hair gets used to it, but that might just be me. I am currently using Sebastian Penetraitt and love how it makes my hair feel and smell. I bleach my hair and I feel like it gives me the hydration it needs where as the Sebastian Hydration gives me a little too much.

I also use Kevin purple conditioner to help my hair tone stay cooler. I dont use this everytime I wash my hair, just when I feel like the yellow tones are coming out.

Hair treatment:

This is something I consider very important to use. It helps repair your damaged ends and makes your hair smooth.
I love this stuff and love how it smells. Pureology serious colour care is an awsome deep condioner. I will use this in the shower once a month; sometimes more depeding on what I feel my hair needs. It is an intense moisture hair masque for dry colour-treated hair.

Oils:

I have tried Argan oil, coconut oil, Moroccan oil, you name it, but I have finally found one that I love and I've been using it for two and a half years now. It just makes my hair feel smooth without the oily feel.

Heat protectors:

I use a few different ones but my all time FAVORITE one is It's a 10. I love what it does to my hair. Not only is it a heat protectant, it's a leave in conditoner, repairs dry and damaged hair, adds shine, detangles, controls frizz, seals and protects your hair color, prevents split ends, stops hair breakage, creates silkiness, and enhances natural body. I mean what an amazing product!! I have been using this product for 4 or 5 years now and I'm still in love.

This is another one that I love! it has 21 essentail benefits that help heal and protect your hair.
Here is the list of all 21 benefits;

Hair detangler

Another leave-in condioner that I  really like is Redken extreme anti-snap. This is good for distressed hair and I will put this in my hair after showers and let my hair air dry. I dont normally use a blowdryer unless I'm in a hurry. So all these leave-in and heat protectants mainly come in handy when I'm styling my hair with a hot tool.

Hair spray:

I dont normally use hair spray because I tend to forget it...lol. But I use two different kinds depending on the hairstyle I'm doing. If I'm looking for one to keep my hair in place for an all day updo, or a braid with fly aways I want to keep out of my face, the Schwarzkop Freeze finish is a good one to use. If I'm looking for a lightweight hair spray for beachy waves, I use the Moroccan hair spray.

Dry shampoo:

Dry shampoo is always a good purchase. I am one who washes my hair maybe twice a week... Dirty hair is the best hair. So when you are busy and dont have time to go through the washing and styling process everyday I would recomend these dry shampoos.

First, I love this powder form dry shampoo. You can also use baby powder, sometimes I do that. This product is from Lush cosmetics and it smells so good just like all of their products.

If loose powder products aren't your favorite I also love INDIE HAIR dry shampoo. You just spray into your roots and your hair is shiney and ready to style for the day. This product also smells amazing.

These are just a few of my favorite go-to hair care products. I love trying new ones and getting other people's favorite product suggestions. If you have any please let me know I would love to try them out.  Also, another thing that goes really well with hair product is a good hair brush. I LOVE my wet hair brush because it doesnt pull out your hair while brushing. I have super tangly hair and I love when I can brush my hair before product is added to it and it doesn't hurt.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, I hope I answered a few questions about my favorite products. If you have any questions about any of the products I've talked about or ones I didn't, feel free to ask!! I love to hear your opinions.

CINCO MESES

My baby boy is F I V E MONTHS!!!!! How if this even possible?! I know I say that every time I post about him, but man time is flying! I love all the new things he is learning and how chunky he is getting (insert heart eye emoji here)!!! I love my fat little dude!

Weight: 13 lbs, 5 oz

Clothing size: 0-3 and 3-6 month bottoms tops he is still wearing some 0-3 and also 3-6 months it just depends on the brand.

Diaper size:Size two we love the LUVS brand.

Nickname: Papas, Bupas, Bubbas, Bub, Bud, and Anders.

Sleep: We have finally got the hang of night and day!! Anderson sleeps through the night from 11:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. then wakes up at 5:00 A.M. and 7:00 A.M. to eat and will go back to sleep till 10:00 A.M. to eat again. Did I mention he sleeps in his big boy crib?! Anderson is growing up so fast! We are currently sleep training on nap time. It is one of the hardest things to hear your baby cry all alone in their crib. We have just started and are on day two he is kinda getting better but man it is taking all I have in me to not pick him up and rock him to sleep every time.

Likes: Looking around at everything, playing with his hands, eating his hands, sleeping, Anderson loves his white noise, sleeping on mom, Bath Time, Tummy Time (while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), Cuddling, Eating, Throwing up on mom and dad all day, He also loves to sit and watch TV with dad, and sucking on his Wubbanub.

Dislikes: Getting his diaper changed (doing better at this), Getting dressed and undressed, Getting out of the bath.

Where there is candy you can always find a Mitchell boy! Anderson sat up by himself for a little while trying to get the candy from the pinata.

Milestones: Anderson is officially a roller! He has started to coo more and more. We have gotten him to laugh a few times!!! It is honestly the best thing when babies laugh! We are loving it!! Anderson loves his swing and his play mat. He will sit and coo at all the little toys that hang down its so cute. He also is smiling more and more. Anderson loves to tell his little stories to anyone who will listen. It is honestly the cutest thing to hear him yell in excitement. Anderson also is learning to sit up, he still needs help sometimes but if we get the right balance he can stay there for a little while. Anderson also likes to help us out by holding his bottle at night before bed.
