we believe

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also know as the Mormon church. I struggled with it growing up and after graduation I moved to Utah where my struggles didn’t go away. With my new sense of independence and a new group of friends I began to make mistakes and lose interest in the church even more. I struggled to feel like I belonged and it became easier to just not get involved.
This all changed when I moved to a new apartment with a good group of girls who invited me into their circle. Through my new group of friends I made much better relationships, dated better guys and eventually found the man of my dreams. With his support I started going back to church little by little and our relationship grew stronger. Even after a few breaks in our relationship I continued to attend my church meetings and my testimony continued to grow. Eventually I got a temple recommend and received my patriarchal blessing; two things I never thought I would want or receive in my life.
James and I finally got married and sealed in the Portland Oregon Temple for all time and eternity, after two and a half long years of dating and I can honestly say that Heavenly Father was there for me all the way. Even when I thought he wasn’t listening or didn’t care, He was. He had a plan for me and He made it possible for me to meet the love of my life and change my heart for good.
I know that Heavenly Father knows you and wants what’s best for you even when you don't feel like praying. He can hear your thoughts and he knows you better than you even know yourself. I’m not the best at praying or doing everything needed of me all the time but I know that the power of prayer works in many ways. I look back on all my experiences and I can say now with confidence that my prayers were answered. It truly was a blessing in disguise and I will forever be thanking Heavenly Father for the many wonderful experiences (and the few not so good ones) he has given me in this life.
I felt the need to share that with you so you could understand a little bit about what I believe and why I am the way I am. The church may not be for everyone right now in this life but you all have the opportunity if you choose. That is one of the many things I love about the gospel. You get to CHOOSE if you want it in your life.
